Steven Michael Stratton passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, surrounded by his
Loving family after a courageous battle with cancer and its complications. Steve
*as was born on July 28, l953, to Mildred Frances (Gunn) Stratton and William Arthur
Stratton in Kansas City. Mo. While earnings his degree in business at Texas Tech
University and working as a flight in structure, he met his beautiful wife of 40 years
Lanette, who was one of his students. Steve's passion for flying began as a small
child while watching his Father, who was an airline pilot. Steve earned his private
flying license at the age of 14, and went on to follow in his father’s footsteps flying
for Braniff Airways. Second to his wife and children, flying was the love of his life.
In l98l Braniff Airways declared bankruptcy, so after the birth of his first son that
same year, Steve began his career as a financial advisor. Steve spent nearly 30 years
at New York Life, earning a reputation For the highest standards of character and
integrity and building a family business. which his two sons carry on today.
Apart from his career, much of Steven’s time and heart was dedicated to international
missions and ministry with an emphasis on sharing the Good News of Jesus and
the spiritual growth of new believers. Steve began his mission work by participating
in evangelistic trips 14 years ago with an organization called international
Commission. Having traveled all over the world with International Commission,
Steve's Focus for the Last 19 years has been in the country of Peru where God opened
doors for ministry deep into the heart of the country from the remote parts of the
Amazon rainforest all the way to the highlands of the Andes Mountains. Steve
raised up a generation of disciples in Peru, and following God’s direction, starred
countless churches. sharing the Gospel, leading thousands to Christ. and providing
for their continued spiritual growth and development.
Steve was a godly man and a loving husband. Father and grandfather. He was
proceeded in death by his mother, Fran, and his brother, Mark. He is survived by
his wife. Lanette; four children and their spouses: Mark Stratton and wife, Austin;
Holly Hardy and husband, Jon; Michael Stratton and wife, Ashley; Joy Medellin
and husband, Ryan; four grandchildren: Adaline Stratton, Maddox Stratton, and Brylee
Stratton and Teagan Stratton and by his father. W.A. Stratton. and sister. Dustin
Grey and husband Collie.
Steve was a pastor, minister, teacher. financial professional, husband. dad,
grandfather, brother, and son, but most of all, he was a disciple of Jesus Christ. He
has run his race to completion and finished strong. and is now enjoying his eternal
reward. He will be dearly missed.
